Hanna Instruments HI 84429-01 Titratable Acidity Mini Titrator and pH Meter, For Dairy Industry

Hanna Instruments HI 84429-01 Titratable Acidity Mini Titrator and pH Meter, For Dairy Industry Review

Hanna Instruments HI 84429-01 Titratable Acidity Mini Titrator and pH Meter, For Dairy Industry Feature

  • Up to three-point pH calibration using three buffers
  • Manual or Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) eliminates need for extra calculations
  • Logs up to 100 samples
  • Replaceable electrodes and probe to prolong the life of the meter
  • Graphic LCD screen for readability

The HI 84429-01 is a microprocessor-based automatic minititrator and pH meter suitable for analyzing Total Titratable Acidity in milk. It features a simple peristaltic pump to ensure accuracy. The instrument employs a built-in algorithm to analyze the pH response to determine the exact pH endpoint, then uses this to make necessary calculations. The Titratable Acidity Determination is displayed instantaneously in user-selected measurements on the large dot matrix display. The meter calibrates pH at up to three points using three buffers (4.01, 6.00, 8.30). It features Manual or Automatic Temperature Compensation, and can log up to 100 samples (50 for pH measurement; 50 for titration results). The electrodes and probe are replaceable, prolonging the life of the meter, and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) features allow user to view last calibration data for pH electrode and pump.

Range is -2.0 to 16.0; -2.00 to 16.00 pH + or - 0.01 pH, with a resolution of 0.1; 0.01 pH. Temperature range is -20.0 to 120.0 degrees C (-4.0 to 248 degrees F) + or – 0.4 degrees C (excluding probe error) at 20 degrees C), with a resolution of 0.1 degrees C. The device operates on a 12 VDC power adapter. Dimensions are 208 x 214 x 163 mm/8.2” x 8.4” x 6.4’’ (H x W x D) with beaker, and weighs 2200 g (77 oz.).

There are two fundamentally different conventions for expressing acidity in dairy products—titratable acidity and pH. The pH is a measurement of hydrogen ion concentrations and the titratable acidity is the neutralizing capacity by a base. The titrator and pH meter eliminate the subjective endpoint color change detection determined by the human eye, and instead employ the sensitivity and accuracy of a pH sensor. The titration method is a potentiometric endpoint determination using a pre-determined pH value. These instruments are commonly used in the dairy industry.

Hanna Instruments manufactures analytical instrumentation and supplies, including pH meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. The company, founded in 1978 and headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standards.

Hanna Instruments HI 98140N Waterproof Portable pH Meter, with Smart Electrode and Log-On-Demand

Hanna Instruments HI 98140N Waterproof Portable pH Meter, with Smart Electrode and Log-On-Demand Review

Hanna Instruments HI 98140N Waterproof Portable pH Meter, with Smart Electrode and Log-On-Demand Feature

  • Smart electrode for storing calibration data for different meters
  • Log on demand feature for keeping track of up to 500 samples
  • Automatic calibration and temperature compensation for ease of use
  • Waterproof for protection from the elements during field use
  • Battery error prevention system (BEPS) alerts the user when low battery power could produce erroneous readings

The HI 98140N waterproof pH meter for measuring pH and temperature uses Hanna’s smart electrode technology that stores calibration data, a log on demand feature for storing up to 500 samples, and includes the HI 1618D PEI body, pre-amplified pH electrode, which has an internal temperature sensor, DIN connector and a 1 m (3.3’) cable for reaching test sites. The HI 98140N meter features the Hanna battery error prevention system (BEPS), which alerts the user when low battery power could produce erroneous readings, and has a user-set auto off function that can be disabled.

The tester provides fast and accurate pH and temperature readings and features a large easy-to-read LCD screen, automatic temperature compensation (ATC) from -20 to 120 degrees C or -4 to 248 degrees F, and automatic calibration (up to three points with two custom buffers and seven memorized buffers: 1.68, 4.01, 6.86, 7.01, 9.18, 10.01, 12.45). The meter also has on-screen tutorials on its large backlit LCD screen, and a user-selectable “calibration time out”, and comes with a USB connection for connecting the meter to a PC to download data.

The HI 98140N tester measures temperatures of -20.0 to 120.0 degrees C (-4.0 to 248.0 degrees F) + or - 0.2 degrees C (+ or – 0.4 degrees F); RH max 100% with resolution + or - 0.1 degrees C (+ or – 0.1 degrees F), and has a range of -4.00 to 20.00 pH (+ or - 0.1; 0.01) with a resolution of 0.1; 0.01 pH. Power is supplied through (3) 1.5V AAA batteries, which provide up to 200 hours of continuous use without the backlight (50 hours with the light on). At 185 x 72 x 36 mm (7.3 x 2.8 x 1.4’’) and 300 g (10.6 oz.), the 98140N is a conveniently sized meter for taking measurements in the field.

Hanna Instruments HI 2221N Calibration Check pH/ORP/Temperature Benchtop Meter

Hanna Instruments HI 2221N Calibration Check pH/ORP/Temperature Benchtop Meter Review

Hanna Instruments HI 2221N Calibration Check pH/ORP/Temperature Benchtop Meter Feature

  • Up to five point calibration with seven memorized buffers
  • Calibration Check for increased accuracy
  • Manual or Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) to eliminate the need for extra calculations
  • PC compatible through USB port
  • LCD screen for readability

The HI 2221 is a pH , Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP), and temperature benchtop meter featuring calibration check diagnostics for pH electrodes and buffer solutions during calibration. The function notes if the device is properly calibrated, and provides a calibration range warning to notify the user if a reading appears too far from the calibration periphery. The instrument can measure using Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) electrodes due to its capability to measure mV with a resolution up to 0.1 mV.

The meter features five point calibration with seven memorized buffers (1.68, 4.01, 6.86, 7.01, 9.18, 10.01, 12.45), Manual or Automatic Temperature Compensation, and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) capabilities that allow storage and retrieval of all pH related data. It has a logging capability of up to 100 points. A built-in logging function stores measurements in non volatile memory and can be transferred to a PC through a USB port.

pH range is -2.00 to 16.00 pH (+ or – 0.01 pH) with a resolution of 0.01 pH. mV range is + or – 699.9; 2000 mV (+ or – 0.2 mV; 1 mV) with a resolution of 0.1; 1 mV. Temperature range is -20.0 to 120.0 degrees C (+ or - 0.2 degrees excluding probe error) with a resolution of 0.1 degrees C. Input impedance is 1E12 Ohms and the device operates on a 12 VDC adapter. Dimensions are 235 x 222 x 109 mm (9.2” x 8.7” x 4.3’’), and weighs 1.3 kg (2.9 lbs.).
