Hanna Instruments HI 99161N Portable pH and Temp Meter For Food and Dairy Applications Review
Hanna Instruments HI 99161N Portable pH and Temp Meter For Food and Dairy Applications Feature
- Portable and waterproof pH and temperature meter designed for use in the food and dairy industry
- Conical electrode tip for measuring liquids and semi-solids
- Automatic one or two point calibration for ease of use
- Automatic temperature compensation (ATC) to eliminate additional calculations
- Battery error protection system (BEPS) to prevent inaccurate readings
The HI 99161N is a portable waterproof pH and temperature meter designed for use in the food and dairy industry, which comes with the FC 202D combination pH and temperature probe. The probe has a cleanable polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) body, with a conical tip that can measure liquids and semi-solids such as meats and cheese. The FC 202D electrode has a diffusion prevention sleeve to protect it from clogging in viscous liquids, and is free from silver chloride, which can be poisonous and contaminate food. The probe has a DIN connector and 1 m (3.3’) cable for reaching test sites.
The HI 99161N meter features a large multi-level LCD screen, and automatic temperature compensation (ATC) from 0 to 60 degrees C (32 to 140 degrees F). A battery percent displays at startup, an auto off function after eight minutes, and the battery error protection system (BEPS) to help prevent inaccurate readings. The meter comes with (3) AAA 1.5 V batteries that provide approximately 1200 hours of continuous use. Calibration is automatic at one or two points, and starter calibration and cleaning sachets are included.
pH range is -2.00 to 16.00 (+ or - 0.02pH) with a resolution of 0.01 pH. Temperature range is - 5.0 to 105.0 degrees C (23.0 to 221.0 degrees F) + or - 0.5 degrees C (up to 60 degrees C), + or - 1 degrees C (outside); + or - 1.0 degrees F (up to 140 degrees F), + or - 2 degrees F (outside), with a resolution of 0.1 degrees C or F. Dimensions are 152 x 58 x 30 mm (6.0 x 2.3 x 1.2”), with weight 205g (7.2 oz.).
pH testers measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance and are commonly used by researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists.
Hanna Instruments manufactures a wide variety of analytical instrumentation, including pH meters, multi-parameter meters, electrodes, chemical reagents and buffer solutions. Founded in 1978, Hanna is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, with subsidiaries located in 32 countries. Hanna Instruments holds many firsts in the field of analytical instrumentation, including the world’s first pH electrode with a built in temperature sensor, electronic pocket-sized pH tester, and replaceable electrode pH pocket tester. To assure the quality of its products, Hanna is a vertically integrated manufacturer and does not subcontract any part of its manufacturing.
