  • Includes leatherette case with belt loop and full instructions
  • Requires no chemicals, distilled water or outside electric power source
Used by Professional Lawn Care Companies and Nurseries. Wonderful for serious gardeners who want to check the pH level in their garden. This soil pH meter is simple and easy to use. Test your soil with accuracy and ease to determine if you need to adjust soil acidity. The pH scale ranging from 0 to 14 is used to indicate acidity and alkalinity. A pH of 7.0 is neutral, values below 7.0 are acid, and those above are alkaline. The lower the pH the more acid is the soil. The higher the pH, the more alkaline. The pH values of some common items are: pure water, 7.0: lemon juice, 2.2 to 2.4; orange juice, 3.4 to 4.0; fresh milk, 6.3 to 6.6; mild soap solution, 8.5 to 10.0; most Ontario soils, 4.5 to 8.0. Soil pH is important chiefly because of the many effects it has on biological and chemical activity of the soil, which effects the metabolism of your plants. To learn more about Soil pH there is a link below for your convenience. To test and regulate the pH of your soil employ the Kelway Soil pH meter and Moisture tester.

Thermo Scientific Orion 9101BN pH Half Cell Electrode, 0 to 14 pH, with BNC Connector

Thermo Scientific Orion 9101BN pH Half Cell Electrode, 0 to 14 pH, with BNC Connector Review

Thermo Scientific Orion 9101BN pH Half Cell Electrode, 0 to 14 pH, with BNC Connector Feature

  • Half-cell pH electrode for general purpose use
  • Refillable for prolonging life of electrode
  • Ag/AgCl electrolyte for less noise (unwanted voltages) than gold or silver electrodes
  • Glass body for use in highly corrosive environments and high temperatures
  • pH range of 0 to 14

The Thermo Scientific Orion 9101BN half-cell pH electrode has a glass body, a ceramic junction, a refillable silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrolyte, and a waterproof Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connection with a 1 m (39") cable. Glass body electrodes are useful in highly corrosive environments where epoxy could be corroded, or around proteins and other compounds with high surface tension. The electrode has a small hole, for refilling the Ag/AgCl electrolyte, which prolongs the life of the electrode, and provides less noise (unwanted voltages) than gold or silver electrodes. This electrode must be used with a reference electrode, such as the Orion 900100 or 900200 electrodes.

pH range is 0 to 14 (+ or - 0.02 pH), temperature range is 0 to 90 degrees C (32 to 194 degrees F) and body dimensions are 110 mm (4.33”) long x 12 mm diameter (0.47”) body, with a 1 m (39”) cable. Buffer and storage solutions are sold separately.

pH electrodes are used for measuring the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. They are often constructed of glass, which senses hydrogen ions, and generates a millivoltage that is picked up by the filling solution and transferred to a wire that connects to the pH meter.

Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures analytical instruments, laboratory equipment, consumables, and software under the Thermo Scientific and Fisher Scientific brands, among others. The company was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Waltham, MA.
